Intense heat wave hits western Mediterranean

In the Mediterranean Sea  ongoing heat wave. This data visualization, based on data from the Copernicus Marine Service (CMEMS), shows sea surface temperature anomalies recorded June 22, 2025. Areas in dark red indicate temperatures more than 5°C above the seasonal average. The most intense warming was observed in the western Mediterranean, including the Balearic and Tyrrhenian Seas.
