Carbon capture technology faces uncertainty despite heavy investment

Carbon capture technology, which involves directly capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere to store it underground, may seem like the perfect solution to climate change. However, despite its progress, it still faces many uncertainties.

Oliver Geden, a member of the IPCC and an expert on carbon dioxide removal, highlights the evolving nature of this area, particularly direct air capture with carbon storage (DACCS).

"The small ecosystem of DACCS is becoming more diverse, but we're not exactly sure where it's going to go," Geden explains, reflecting on the technology's uncertain future in the broader context of climate change mitigation. (Rodielon Putol, more at earth.com)
