New European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change appointed

Correct The Council of the European Environment Agency (EEA) yesterday appointed EU scientific experts to be members of the European Scientific Climate Change Advisory Council for its second term, from 2026 to 2030. The independent advisory body, tasked with providing the European Union (EU) with scientific knowledge, expertise and advice on climate change, will start its second term on 24 March 2026.

European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change , established under the European Climate Law in 2021, consists of 15 independent leading scientific experts, who cover a wide range of relevant disciplines.

The Advisory Committee provides independent scientific advice on EU climate action and objectives and their consistency with European climate law and the EU's international commitments under the Paris Agreement, which will underpin EU climate action and efforts to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas (C3S Atlas) is constantly growing

Application C3S Atlas has come a long way since its launch in February 2024. Users around the world have already experienced the powerful and intuitive features of the browser (app) and the associated dataset, which provide quick access not only to some of the most representative climate projections, but also to observations and reanalyses.

The latest addition to the C3S Atlas family is theuser tools. This resource is a Jupyter book with a set of notebooks. These tools increase transparency and facilitate the reuse of data and visual products in C3S Atlas. The new addition helps bring Atlas even closer to the FAIR (findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reuse) principles.
