Climate change undermines almost all sustainable development goals

Halfway through the 2030 Agenda, the science is clear – the planet is far from meeting its climate goals. According to a new multi-agency report coordinated by World According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), this undermines global efforts to address hunger, poverty and ill health, improve access to clean water and energy, and many other aspects of sustainable development. Only 15 % Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is on track, the report says United in Science , which systematically examines the impact of climate change and extreme weather on the goals. It illustrates how weather, climate and water sciences can advance goals such as food and water security, clean energy, better health, sustainable oceans and resilient cities. The annual report brings together information and expertise from 18 organisations. It is published ahead of the summit sustainable development  a climate ambition summit on the The United Nations General Assembly .
