In stark contrast to the celebratory countdown marking the end of the year in Times Square, the public countdown in Union Square on Saturday took on a tone that was much more somber. “We need the world, corporations, government leaders and civil society to synchronize our climate clocks, getting on the same timeline and moving forward with systemic solutions to the crisis,” said Andrew Boyd, co-creator of the world’s first-ever climate clock.
