Climate records are breaking and Earth remains in uncharted territory – scientists

A series of climate records for temperature, ocean heat and Antarctic sea ice has alarmed some scientists, who say their speed and timing are unprecedented. Dangerous heatwaves in Europe could break more records, the UN says. It’s hard to immediately link these events to climate change because weather – and the oceans – are so complex. Studies are ongoing, but scientists already fear some worst-case scenarios are emerging. ( Georgina Rannard, Erwan Rivault, Jana Tauschinski, BBC climate reporter & data team)
