Most Europeans believe that the ecological transition should go faster

According to a new Eurobarometer survey published today, a large A majority of Europeans believe that climate change is a serious problem facing the world (93 %). More than half think that the transition to a green economy should be accelerated (58 %) given the sharp rise in energy prices and concerns about gas supplies following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. From an economic perspective, 73 % Europeans agree that the cost of climate change damages is much higher than the investment needed for the green transition. And three quarters (75 %) of Europeans agree that taking climate action will lead to innovation.
