A recent study led by a researcher at University College London, published in Nature Ecology & Evolution , reveals that climate change could suddenly displace species beyond critical thresholds when they encounter unforeseen temperatures within their geographic habitats. The study predicts the timeline and locations where species around the world could be exposed to potentially dangerous temperature changes due to climate change. The research team from UCL, the University of Cape Town, the University of Connecticut and the University at Buffalo analysed data from more than 35,000 animal species (including mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, corals, fish, cephalopods and plankton) and seagrasses. from every continent and ocean region, along with climate projections up to 2100.
Climate change will force countless species to undergo a sudden break
