ESG reporting obligations in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia

With the July 6, 2024 deadline for the implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU) 2022/2464 (the "CSRD", the "Directive") approaching, Member States within the EU are progressing at different speeds in adopting their respective local implementing legislation.

Three of the six Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries we monitor, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania, have already adopted legislative acts that at least partially implement CSRD into national legislation. Slovakia has submitted a draft law to the parliament, while proposals from Bulgaria and Croatia are still awaited. Therefore, some original CSRD rules entered into force in January 2024 in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovakia said they also plan to transpose the directive by the deadline. (More on www.lexology.com)
