June 5 is World Environment Day. Organized annually by the United Nations in 1973, World Environment Day is an international day that brings together people from more than 150 countries around the world to raise awareness of environmental issues and showcase green initiatives. This year's World Environment Day celebrations are organized by Saudi Arabia and the theme is land restoration, desertification and drought resilience.
