Only a few tree species are flexible enough to survive a century of rapid climate change. European forests have already been seriously affected by climate change. Thousands of hectares of trees have already died due to drought and bark beetles. Scientists from the University of Vienna and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have now investigated which trees can be usefully reforested. Their result: Only a few types of trees are suitable for the future, in Austria, for example, English oak, winter linden and silver fir.
