NGOs from 30 countries issue a statement of support for Azerbaijan at COP29

The Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA), which includes 2,300 non-governmental organizations from 106 countries specializing in health, environment and climate change issues, issued a statement of support for Azerbaijan regarding COP29.

The statement was signed by the head of AHOA, Uzodinma Adirieje. 107 non-governmental organizations from 30 countries that are members and partners of AHOA also joined the challenge.

In its statement, AHOA welcomes Azerbaijan's genuine commitment and leadership in global action on climate change and calls on the world to take advantage of the historic opportunity created by COP29 to combat climate change.

The report informs via AZERTAC that the statement reads: “As we approach the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan, the leadership and members/partners of the Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA) express our sincere support to the COP29 Presidency and Azerbaijan, the host country , as they assume a key role in guiding the global community towards a sustainable and resilient future. While AHOA is deeply concerned about the pressing environmental challenges facing our planet, we are inspired by the expressed commitment and leadership shown by the COP29 Presidency and Azerbaijan in advancing climate action on the international stage. The urgency of addressing climate change cannot be overstated. We are at a critical point where bold and decisive action is needed to mitigate the impacts of climate change, protect vulnerable communities/populations and preserve our precious ecosystems for future generations. In this context, AHOA is pleased to note the commitment of the COP29 Presidency and the host country to promote dialogue, cooperation and innovation, which are of utmost importance.
