Lack of finance risks Europe failing to meet climate targets, say auditors

The European Union is at risk of missing its 2030 climate change targets due to uncertainty about whether enough funding will be invested in the transition to a low-carbon economy, auditors said on Monday. The European Court of Auditors (ECA) has highlighted the funding shortfall in a report on the progress of the 27 EU countries in achieving their environmental goals – including their binding commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55 % by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
