How climate change affects the little ones

One of the consequences of climate change, which is less considered in the current debate, but no less serious, is the forced displacement of many people due to ecological disasters or extreme weather events. Although storms, floods or droughts are in fact natural and it is difficult to attribute specific responsibility for a single event to climate change, there is general agreement that human-induced climate change has a significant impact on the frequency, intensity, geographic distribution and duration of extreme events, and that these in turn they contribute to influencing patterns of migration and displacement. Forced displacement affects millions of people, including many boys and girls. According to UNICEF, so far minors forced to move due to climate change have remained largely invisible. Indeed, data on this phenomenon are rarely disaggregated by age, and younger populations are less likely to be under the radar, especially in contexts characterized by rapid urbanization, institutional instability, and conflict.
