Most forests are less able to cope with the dangers of climate change

Climate change is weakening forests worldwide. Increased climate variability and water scarcity have made forests in warmer regions less able to recover from natural and anthropogenic disturbances. A study led by the European Commission's Joint Research Center provides new evidence on the impact of climate change on forests in Europe and around the world. It highlights the need to adopt a 'resilience mindset' - managing the environment for resilience - if we are to address forestry challenges in times of rapid climate change.
