The impact of climate change on developing countries would, according to the Christian organization Christian Aid could soon appear in the shopping baskets of shoppers in European countries, including the UK. According to recent research by Christian Aid, products such as bananas, grapes, avocados, coffee and tea are just some of the foods most at risk from the growing climate crisis, with up to a quarter of the fruit, vegetables, pulses and meat products on European stalls coming from vulnerable countries.
"The UK may be an island, but in an increasingly connected world we cannot escape the damage caused by climate change," he said Patrick Watt , CEO of Christian Aid. “The climate crisis is increasingly disrupting food supply chains in the UK shopping cart and risks exacerbating the cost of living crisis. The reasons for taking action have never been clearer. The UK Government must work with others to provide the financial support needed to help vulnerable communities adapt to a rapidly changing climate.” (organization Christian Aid)
