The EU and all its Member States have signed and ratified the Paris Agreement and are firmly committed to implementing it. In line with this commitment, EU countries have agreed to put the EU on a path to becoming the first climate-neutral economy and society by 2050. Under the agreement, the EU has submitted its long-term emissions reduction strategy and updated climate plans by the end of 2020, committing to reducing EU emissions by at least 55 % by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The EU is at the forefront of the fight against climate change. Through its bold policies and actions, it is becoming a global standard-setter and stimulating climate ambition worldwide.
