Last week, like most weeks, we witnessed another tragedy of people dying at sea in their desperate attempt to seek a new life, a new start in a relatively safe European country, leaving behind the fear, insecurity, poverty and all the other kinds of adversity that large parts of the global South experience. The number of confirmed dead or missing at sea off the Greek coast was particularly high in this latest incident, in which a boat full of migrants capsized, shattering the dreams of hundreds of people for a safer and more stable life.
