The European Commission has presented a new brochure that contains a series of innovative projects focused on the EU's two main missions: Adaptation to climate change and Climate neutral and smart cities.
The mission of climate-neutral cities (Mission Cities) focuses on the transformation of the urban environment into an intelligent and sustainable one. It involves the cooperation of local authorities, citizens, companies, investors and regional and national institutions with the aim of creating one hundred climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.
The Climate Adaptation mission focuses on supporting regions, cities and local authorities in the EU in their efforts to increase resilience to climate change. The goal is to accompany at least 150 European regions and communities on the road to climate change resistance by 2030.
The booklet highlights several projects where these missions overlap and shows how integrated approaches can lead to more effective and sustainable results. Projects within the Climate Change Adaptation Mission include the use of advanced IT solutions to assess and monitor climate risks and the use of natural solutions to mitigate climate impacts, demonstrating the scope of our collective response.
With cities across Europe facing unprecedented environmental challenges, this booklet serves as a key resource and inspiration for policy makers, urban planners and communities. It calls on all stakeholders to take joint action to ensure a sustainable and resilient future for all. (Co2AI)
