Today's publication follows  consultation  ESMA on the November 2022 guidelines, which ended in February 2023. The finalized guidelines were expected before the end of 2023. In December 2023, ESMA provided an update on the delay. After the start of the work on the guidelines, the review of the AIFMD and UCITS Directives has progressed at EU level. ESMA has decided put away the adoption of guidelines to ensure that the outcome of these reviews in relation to fund names can be fully considered and, where appropriate, reflected in the guidelines.
