The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is heading into its final phase. The latest update is that a final vote on the final text is expected in April 2024. This is according to an update by MP Axel Voss, who published the latest version of the CSDDD on 30 January 2024. This CSDDD proposal will be voted on in the Council on February 9 and in the JURI Committee on February 13.
The proposal published on 30 January is the next step after the agreement on the provisions on the CSDDD reached between the EU Council and the Parliament on 14 December 2023. This agreement is a key milestone for companies to contribute to the protection of the environment and human rights. This marks a significant development as companies will be held accountable for potential abuses in their value chain. The highlights of the interim agreement are summarized below. We will share our thoughts on the latest version of CSDDD soon. ( Suzanne Kröner – Rosmalen, Nicolas de Crombrugghe, lexology.com)
