Only 1 in 25 SMEs measure their carbon emissions: Survey

A survey of US-based YPO's global CEO community highlighted on Wednesday that most small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are not measuring their carbon emissions, which could seriously undermine their ability to contribute to tackling climate change. The YPO 2023 Global Impact Survey, which included more than 700 members from 82 countries, including India, showed that only 4 percent of members surveyed were able to provide data on their companies' direct and indirect emissions (range 1-3). Scope 2 and 3, which are indirect emissions due to activities from sources that the company does not own or control, such as emissions from the production of electricity purchased and used at local or international locations, from the production of goods purchased by the company, third-party treatment of discharged wastewater, transportation and processing of waste from landfills created by the company, etc. (MSME desk, financialexpress.com)
