The Standing Committee of European Physicians (CPME) has published a new policy on climate change and health, setting out key recommendations for policymakers and the healthcare sector. Given the current and expected climate-related health risks, CPME identifies climate action in the healthcare sector as an essential and immediate priority. It advocates reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the resilience of healthcare systems to climate change, promoting mental health, taking health inequalities into account in climate change response strategies, developing effective climate epidemiology methods for climate-related diseases and deaths, raising awareness of climate-related health risks across all policy areas, training healthcare professionals and mainstreaming health into climate policies.
