Japan wants G7 agreement to accelerate decarbonization efforts

Japan plans to use its position as the chair of the G7 group of major economies to push for an agreement to accelerate decarbonization, Reuters reports, citing the country's industry minister. The news portal explains: "As the G7 chair this year, Japan will hold a meeting of [climate, energy and environment] ministers in Sapporo on April 15-16 ahead of the G7 summit in Hiroshima on May 19-21 to promote what it calls a realistic energy transition."„
