ESOTC 2024: Your guide to Europe's changing climate

Report on the State of the Climate in Europe 2024 ( ESOTC 2024 ), published jointly by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on 15 April, presents a detailed an overview of climate conditions in Europe and the Arctic in 2024. Based on the latest data and scientific analysis, the report highlights marked regional contrasts and changes in variables across the Earth system, reflecting both the pace and extent of ongoing climate change.

The ESOTC annual reports provide both a broad overview and a detailed look at the state of the climate in Europe and the Arctic in the previous year. They combine high-quality datasets, maps and expert analysis, examining variables such as temperature, precipitation, forest fires, sea ice and heat stress. The 2024 edition also includes graphic gallery with approximately 130 graphs and an interactive map of key events , which includes a layer showing examples of climate resilience and adaptation initiatives from cities across Europe.
