Remember when 2°C of global warming was a doomsday scenario? Well, now we're looking at something much worse. From the fish on your plate to the weather outside your window, everything is about to change. A new study by an international team of researchers including Jackie Dawson , full professor geography, environment and geomatics in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa, highlights the serious risks posed by insufficient national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Our findings reveal that the risk of 2.7°C warming is significant and that there is no sector of society that will be left untouched,” explains Professor Dawson, who is also the Canada Research Chair in the Human and Policy Dimensions of Climate Change. “From marine ecosystems to local infrastructure, the cascading impacts will affect everyone.” (From Bernard Rizko, more at uottawa.ca)
