The IKI Small Grants Program is a complementary tool within the International Climate Initiative (IKI). It serves to support small local organizations in the implementation of their projects in the field of climate and biodiversity. IKI Small grants are awarded by the Federal Ministry economy and Climate Protection (BMWK) in close cooperation with the Federal Office of Foreign Affairs (AA) and the Federal Ministry of the Environment environment , nature protection, nuclear safety and consumer protection (BMUV).
IKI Small Grants targets small regional, national and local organizations in ODA eligible countries. Through annual calls for proposals, IKI provides small grant funding for projects to support active engagement civil society and implementing effective, locally adapted approaches to the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss. In addition, it supports small implementing organizations in further developing their capacities and strengthening their professional networks with tailored measures. The goal is to support them as actors of change in the area of climate and biodiversity on the spot.
