Taraba in Brussels: The green transformation must strengthen Europe economically, not destroy it

Europe's preparedness for climate risks, a new climate goal by 2040, but also a fair transition to a resilient society and a competitive circular economy. These are the main topics of the informal meeting of the EU Council of Environment Ministers in Brussels, Belgium. The Slovak delegation at the two-day meeting is led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment of the SR Tomáš Taraba. According to Tarab, the biggest challenge facing not only Slovakia, but the entire European Union, is to increase social and economic resistance to climate risks while at the same time maintaining Europe's competitiveness. "Adaptation to climate change is an important political topic, it costs us huge financial resources. That is why we must make the green transformation meaningful, efficient and above all, not to implement it at a pace and to an extent that will destroy our global competitiveness, endanger jobs and give an advantage to states that benefit from the fact that they do not protect the environment. The green transformation is supposed to help Europe become energy independent. However, it cannot succumb to blind activism and ideology that will be detached from reality," Taraba emphasized.
