Climate change is a growing threat that requires immediate action. To change something, we need to change our behavior and adapt quickly. Fortunately, we have the technology to reverse climate change and reduce emissions of pollutants such as carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere. However, the pace of our actions must be accelerated. At the forefront of our efforts should be the transition from the burning of fossil fuels to the creation of an all-electric energy system. While recent federal investments in our electric grid are a step in the right direction, we still lack sufficient infrastructure for electric car charging points, undermining the administration's electric vehicle projections. One of the main obstacles to progress is inertia. We often cling to our old ways without considering how we can change our behavior to have a positive impact. To overcome this problem, governments should play a key role by promoting education and awareness. If education alone proves insufficient, sanctions and incentives can be introduced to encourage behavioral change. (Enrico Tomasso)
