Adaptive EU strategy sets out how the European Union can adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change and become more resilient to climate change by 2050. The strategy proposes to step up adaptation planning and risk assessment as one of the key steps towards achieving smarter, faster and more systematic adaptation in Europe. 14 It explicitly states: “ Based on an overview of the risks of natural and man-made disasters that the European Union may face, relevant research projects, the PESETA series of reports and taking into account existing sectoral regulations, the Commission will prepare an EU-wide climate risk assessment. " Resolution of the European of Parliament of 15 September 2022 It also urged the Commission to carry out an EU-wide climate risk assessment, paying particular attention to the risks of drought, forest fires and health threats. Recently , October 4, 2023, new EU Commissioner for climate action during hearings in the European Parliament stated that it will oversee work on climate-related risk preparedness , and pointed out " EUCRA on the identifying climate risk owners and those best placed to act " . He also stated that " the report will be to inform about the identification of priorities for the new Commission and will help it develop more climate-resilient policies and instruments for the future. " The first EUCRA will support the identification of adaptation-related policy priorities in Europe and the development of EU policy in climate-sensitive sectors. It can also serve as an EU-wide reference point for conducting and updating national or sub-national climate risk assessments.
