Climate change is already wreaking havoc across the planet, devastating communities and ecosystems around the world. Humanity can no longer afford to delay addressing the climate crisis. As the first global stocktake at COP28 draws to a close, governments must come up with a rapid response plan that accelerates climate action at a pace and scale never seen before. To support this process, the upcoming climate action 2023 the most comprehensive sector-by-sector plan to close the greenhouse gas emissions gap and limit global warming to 1.5°C. This report translates the Paris Agreement temperature limit into 2030 and 2050 targets for energy, buildings, industry, transport, forests and land, food and agriculture, technological carbon removal and climate finance.
