Global climate change adaptation measures are too uncoordinated

How are governments, organizations, companies and individuals coping with the impacts of global warming? Who are the actors when it comes to reducing climate risks such as droughts, floods and forest fires? What do the different actor groups contribute? And where and how do they already work together systematically? A new study provides the first global analysis of the actors involved in climate change adaptation and the roles they play. For the publication, an international team of scientists reviewed more than 1,400 scientific studies on the topic of climate change adaptation. The results show that there are many gaps in the distribution of roles and responsibilities for adaptation around the world. In particular, adaptation, which fundamentally transforms societies, infrastructure and risk management in response to the massive impacts of climate change, is missing. Furthermore, comprehensive cooperation between different state and non-state actors is missing. (Megan Craig, M.Sc.)
