Global warming has come to the forefront of public debate due to its increasing impact on society. While most of us didn't read Intervladne reports panel on climate change (IPCC), heat waves, intensifying storms and the proliferation of extreme events remind us of the extent of climate disruption and the urgency of action. Despite documenting it Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity Science and Ecosystem Services Policy (IPBES), the IPCC's biodiversity equivalent, we know little about how biodiversity erosion may affect us and the rest of the planet. Its links and interactions with climate change are underestimated, and any policy that should be addressed in isolation misses the mark. It is impossible to take effective action against global warming without addressing our impact on the rest of the living world and vice versa.
