European Commission approves billions of state aid for climate protection in Germany

When switching to climate-neutral economy Germany can support companies with a total of three billion euros. EU competition authorities have approved this support - it can take the form of grants, tax breaks, lower interest rates or loan guarantees. Companies that produce batteries, solar systems, wind turbines, heat pumps, electrolyzers or CO₂ storage systems can be financed. According to the EU Commission The subsidies must be granted by 31 December 2025 and are intended to provide a boost to private investment in climate-friendly technologies. "This is an important contribution to Europe's ambitious climate goals," said EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager.
