The defence sector is crucial to maintaining the security and stability of our society. However, the sector is vulnerable to climate change, either through the direct impacts of climate threats or indirectly through its dependence on vulnerable entities operating critical energy infrastructure. The defence sector therefore needs to increase its resilience to climate change. New study The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and the European Defence Agency addresses for the first time the nexus between climate, energy and defence and proposes measures for EU defence to ensure climate resilience and energy sustainability.
