Racial disparities work against disaster recovery for people of color. Climate change could make it worse

People of color in the U.S. face an increased risk of harm from climate-related disasters. Nonprofits are now pushing to address this disparity with more equitable approaches to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. „Until we truly address the fundamental issues of climate injustice, we will continue to see a disproportionate impact when it comes to disasters in Black and historically marginalized communities,“ said Abre' Conner, director of environmental and climate justice for the NAACP.
