A study conducted by researchers from University of Otago revealed disturbing trends in ozone holes over Antarctica. According to the study, the ozone hole has been alarmingly large and persistent in recent years, contrary to public perception.

"The past three years (2020-2022) have seen the reappearance of large, long-lived ozone holes over Antarctica," the researchers wrote. “Understanding ozone variability remains very important given the major role that Antarctic stratospheric ozone plays in Southern Hemisphere climate variability.” (Chrissy Sexton)
