El Niño + climate change = heat records

CNN — Climate change combined with this year's El Niño set a new world record for global heat on Tuesday — 62.92 degrees Fahrenheit, or 17.18 degrees Celsius. The past 60 years may not sound like much to anyone who sweats during the summer heat, but the number is almost a full degree Celsius above the average between 1979 and 2000 and is a new indicator that Earth's climate is warming faster than expected.
