EU and global progress towards the goals of the Paris Agreement

In 2015, 196 countries adopted the Paris Agreement: the world’s first ever legally binding climate change treaty, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C or, at most, 2°C above pre-industrial levels. Eight years on, a lot has happened – both on climate change and on climate action. How well are we doing? It’s time to take stock. Join us on Friday, October 27th at European Climate Stocktake , an event to reflect on the EU and the world's progress towards the goals of the Paris Agreement. The event aims to contribute to the discussion in the run-up to the Global Stocktake, the UNFCCC's first assessment of global progress made in implementing the Paris Agreement, which will be concluded at COP28 in November. We invite you to an open discussion with high-level policymakers such as Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, Director-General Kurt Vandenberghe, and speakers representing a wide range of stakeholders, including international organizations, business, NGOs, academia, youth, and more.
