Global warming plays a major role in increasing the frequency and pattern of extreme weather events. At Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) Department of Energy scientists have found that climate change is contributing to a shift from snowfall to precipitation on mountains across the Northern Hemisphere. Such torrents of liquid water bring a clear set of hazards, such as landslides, flooding, and soil erosion. (Bethan Davies, azocleantech)
