Climate change will turn snow into extreme precipitation in high mountain areas, risk of landslides

A recent study has revealed the alarming consequences of climate change, with findings suggesting that as the planet warms, it will result in more extreme precipitation, with snowfall turning into rain at higher altitudes, a phenomenon that will in turn increase the risk of landslides and flooding, the media reported. The study, published in the journal Nature, reveals how mountainous regions will experience more intense rainfall than previously thought in previous research. This increased rainfall poses a greater risk of flooding, landslides and soil erosion, compared to the risk of snowfall. (Heena Sharma)
