With the COP28 UN climate summit approaching, the debate about what we need to do and what we are willing to do is intensifying. Meanwhile, our planet continues to warm. A recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change highlights the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for real solutions. However, in a world marked by geopolitical and economic differences, this task becomes even more daunting. One of the main challenges facing COP28 is bridging the implementation gap between agreed agreements and actual action. Previous conferences have set ambitious goals, but the translation of these goals into concrete policies and measures in practice has been insufficient. COP28 must support mechanisms that ensure effective implementation of commitments. In addition, countries, especially those in the Global South, should be provided with adequate financial and technical support to enable them to effectively implement their climate plans. (NIKOLAJ E.
