During 2022 and early 2023, the impact of climate change will intensify in Africa and around the world. We have seen catastrophic floods in Pakistan and Nigeria and Cyclone Freddy which affected Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar. The multi-layered drought is still a threat in the Horn of Africa, including Kenya, where more than 4.2 million Kenyans have been affected. Heat waves and forest fires in the Northern Hemisphere have also caused massive disruption. As the world continues to warm, reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suggest that countries must reduce carbon emissions to prevent the effects of climate change.
