The world of climate change is one of moderate, science-based debate – for the most part. However, there are a few conversations that are guaranteed to reduce any encounter to angry tears. One is the use of so-called carbon offsets – voluntary credits that companies can buy to prove that they have reduced someone else's emissions rather than their own.
