Last year, Europe experienced more days of extreme heat than ever before since records began. The joint report by the UN World Meteorological Organization and the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service also shows that the number of days with at least severe heat stress is increasing. Europe is the continent warming the fastest. Since the 1980s, temperatures have risen about twice as fast as the global average. Over the past 20 years, the number of deaths from heat has increased by about 30 percent.
