A new wave of online climate denial is on the rise

A wave of "new denial" of climate change is rising online, which could have dire consequences, according to a study. False and misleading statements from around 12,000 recent videos on nearly 100 YouTube and similar channels were analyzed by the non-profit Center to Combat Digital Hate (CCDH), based at the University of Exeter in the UK.  The watchdog found that climate deniers' tactics are changing. Deniers used to say climate change doesn't exist, but despite overwhelming evidence, they now say solutions — such as renewable energy — don't work, CCDH said. In fact, renewable energy is the main focus of the New Denial.  "The climate movement has won the argument that climate change is real and that it is damaging our planet's ecosystems," he told CNN Imran Ahmed, Executive Director and Founder of CCDH.
