Global renewable energy capacity grew by 10 % last year to reach 3,372 gigawatts (GW), Reuters reports, citing new data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The news portal adds: The report states that "solar and wind power dominated the increase in renewable energy capacity, together accounting for 90 % of all net renewable additions in 2022." It said this increase accounted for 83 % of all new energy capacity last year, but quotes IRENA chief Francesco La Camera: "If we want to stay on track to limit global warming to 1.5C, the annual addition of renewable energy capacity must triple current levels by 2030."
