Environmental group launches carbon footprint calculator for teens

Luxembourg's Sustainable Development Council on Tuesday launched a carbon footprint calculator for children and teenagers to help them better understand their personal habits and how they affect the environment.

Web application Däin CO2 calculator aims to "reach young people in their language", said Jacques Pir for Luxembourg Times . "It's not about pointing the finger at them," but instead giving them something to act on.

“Students are aware [of the climate crisis], but in the school curriculum it is not considered as a subject – like maths or science. This is not the time to deal with such topics,” Pir said, adding that the intention was not to “burden” students completely, but to show how they can begin to contribute to mitigation efforts.
