Transition to net zero. China, USA and Russia, please inspire the world

51toCarbonZero's mission is to enable large corporations faster and move more effectively to net zero by focusing on impactful and managed change and helping governments understand the corporate response to climate change to deliver the necessary policies.

Boy, does the world need to focus on transition and not on carbon accounting and reporting. The enormous challenges in achieving the ambitious 1.5°C temperature target, which is the cornerstone of the international climate agreements since Paris 2015 (COP 21), are clear. Recent climate data 8 years later suggests that current efforts will lead to an increase of 2.7c (thanks Statista and Climate Tracker).

Google what that means, it's scary.

This situation calls for an urgent call to action, especially aimed at the major global contributors to emissions who appear to be doing the least to protect themselves and the world. The 2022 data identifies the top emitting countries worldwide:

  1. China: About 28-30 % of global carbon emissions.
  2. United States of America: Roughly 15-17 % of global carbon emissions.
  3. India: About 7-9 % of global carbon emissions.
  4. Mask: Approximately 5-9 % of global carbon emissions.
  5. European Union (EU): The EU as a collective entity contributes approximately 8-10 % of global carbon emissions.
