Global economy to face worst 5 years in 3 decades, India to remain resilient: World Bank

The World Bank predicts that the global economy is headed for its weakest growth in three decades. According to the latest Global Economic Prospects report, global growth is expected to slow for the third consecutive year in 2024, falling from 2.6 trillion won in 2023 to 2.4 trillion won. Despite a marginal increase to 2.7 trillion won in 2025, overall growth over the five-year period is expected to remain almost three-quarters of a percentage point below the average rate recorded in 2010. While the global economy has shown resilience to recession risks in 2023, the World Bank notes that heightened geopolitical tensions will bring new challenges in the near future.  The organization therefore projects that most economies will experience slower growth in 2024 and 2025 compared to the previous decade (Samriddhi Srivastava)
